Strawberries are in
Time for fresh strawberries in smoothies, salads or just all by themselves as a snack. If they last in the fridge long enough to get squishy soft, mash them and pour them over a biscuit or croissant with a little whipped coconut cream and a dash of cinnamon.
The little ones are sweeter, and look for small local farmers who handpick. Berries will be darker and softer. Expect organics to be smaller and less consistent in appearance.... but oh so much better!
When you bring them home from the market, don't wash them. Put them in a bowl in the fridge and wash them as you eat them.
If you buy more than you will eat in the next few days, immediately set aside a bunch, wash them, cut the tops off and store in a sealed bag in the freezer. Use for smoothies or mash when fresh ones are unavailable.
